... in a roundabout way to Dave's Music Tank, for helping me to discover this album
To explain - Dave posted a link to an album by the Necks - an Australian improvisation trio, who are absolute National Treasures, as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, listening to that, I went to Spotify to see what else they had on there I may not have heard & found the album 'Unfold'... which I definitely hadn't...
The next day, Spotify decided I was into minimalism & suggested a playlist for me of Terry Riley compositions. The first track on it was from 'The Book of Abbeyozzud' & I swooned around the house for the next 5 minutes, before looking up the rest of it. Now Spotify has decided I'm really into minimalism & has suggested a playlist, appropriately named 'Minimalism' , full of tracks by Philip Glass, Roger & Brian Eno, Steve Reich & a host of others...
This has all been quietly observed by an amused L-SP, who has been extolling the virtues of Spotify for the last 6 months or so, but I'd resisted up to now, mostly because of inferior sound quality - which is still my main complaint... but the advantages of exploring new musical territory so easily, are starting to win me over
