Symmetry...

Taken earlier this year, when you could still go to the Art Gallery of NSW... then wait 5 minutes for people to get the hell out of your shot. Even then, you had to be quick!

Talk is increasing about the return to 'normal' once the virus is brought further under control, with community sport & retail shops being first back - probably in about 4 weeks time

And I'm not ready! I know it's selfish of me, because I've been employed the whole time, but despite the no pubs, restaurants, cinemas, galleries & road trips, I've actually enjoyed the quiet around town, the lack of traffic - both foot & vehicular. I've particularly enjoyed walking in the Oxford St Mall & not being accosted by over-enthused & zealous charity workers, or gym bunnies, or telco spruikers. I don't know if I even want to return to that kind of normal &, if we do, can't promise that I won't punch one of them because all those years of building up my patience & resistance to them has been undone by their weeks of absence

One thing I'd like to see re-open though, is gymnasiums & fitness centres, if only to get the hordes of joggers & cyclists off the footpaths, roads, grass verges &, especially, out of my fucking way!! Get them off the streets & back on the treadmills where they belong... But on the whole, it's been quite calming &, if not stress-free, then certainly less stressful. Being really only a first-generation city kid, I always enjoy the peace, pace & feel of country towns & it's been nice to have that here... given we're not allowed to go anywhere else where they have it

I do miss a proper pint of Guinness, from a proper tap, in a proper pub though. Almost as much, I'm sure, as the thousands of unemployed bar staff enjoyed pouring it for me... then getting paid for doing it
