Feeding The Trolls

Every now & then, I leave a comment on somebody's Instagram post... in much the same way as you'd comment on someone's Journal, except that Instagram is 100% open to the public (unless you have a private account & why would you bother?). Yesterday, I got a little sick of climate change deniers telling me how the weather in Australia really works, from the comfort of their Northern hemisphere basements, based on somebody else's comment they read, which was based on what someone who isn't a scientist said, somewhere that wasn't a proper media channel, to someone who wasn't a journalist... You get the idea

And wow... do they get angry quickly!!!

I've written here before about these people who don't trust science, or educated people in general, because they feel like they're being talked down to... or being told they're stupid because they don't know stuff. They'd much rather be told something simple, by someone who talks like they do. Doesn't matter if it's wrong, as long as it's simple & doesn't affect the way they want to live their lives, because all change is bad!!

The kind of attitude that gives rise to the anti-vax movement - who, somehow, haven't all caught smallpox & died out... or the Flat Earth Society, with members all around the globe who, somehow, haven't all fallen off... Or Trump supporters who, somehow, haven't all been drafted for WW3... yet

As Long-Suffering Partner & I often have to say... thank god it ends with us & we're not condemning children to a world that's only going to get dirtier, dumber & angrier
