Sep. 5th, 2019 10:14 pmLong-Suffering Partner has started her rotating 12 hour shifts in her new role & is currently doing nights. This leaves Bella & I to our own devices, which for the last 2 nights has pretty much meant some loud music when I get home, but then being able to watch the 4th Ashes Test without side commentary from L-SP about how she can't tell if the TV is paused or not, because cricket is so slooooow... Of course, the classic comment on cricket is 'How can a game that goes for 5 days still end in a draw?!?!?' & I have to admit that all the counter arguments about it being a game of strategy & adaptation to different conditions at different times don't really hold any weight when people are used to more fast-paced fare like Rugby Union or League, soccer ('football', sorry!), basketball or curling
Personally, I find cricket fascinating to watch & think that tennis & golf are infinitely more tedious to sit through, but I can't find many others who agree... American football & baseball should be entertaining to watch, but I'm always frustrated by the amount of stoppages, interruptions & endless, pointless statistics that flash up on the screen & obscure the actual action when there is any!
Bella, meanwhile comes into the loungeroom occasionally to check the score, then wanders out into the night for a while. I think she's more of a one-day game fan...
