Or - welcome to life in the Sales lane... where public holidays are not for you

A bit of a lost weekend too, if it comes to that... Friday night I caught up with some of the old workmates from my Music Store job 30 years ago, for a night of playing records, CDs reminiscence, debate, gossip, flights of fancy & more debate. In fact, more debate than I really wanted, as one of the guys was a quite vehemently defensive Christian - the kind that will take you up on any fault in your logic, but will retreat into faith when you challenge theirs... I left there with the sunrise on Saturday morning & walked home. It took an hour &, even at that early time, the heat was getting uncomfortable & I just about remembered to remove boots & most clothes before I all but collapsed in the shower

Some fitful dozing, then Saturday got underway with some household & retail chores, followed by an early dinner with L-SP's sister & partner at a Korean BBQ place in town, then to Karaoke, hosted by a long-time friend, whose birthday it was... & the whole pub seemed to know it!! He was pleased to see us though - I got one song in, but it was a crowded room, so no time for an encore. By the time we left just after midnight, the temperature had finally dropped below 30C, so we could actually get some proper sleep once we got home...

Sunday, therefore, was a late starter, but off we went to catch up with some friends who live waay out north-west - where the rain don't fall, but the thunder & lightning from a storm that probably rained somewhere else, was impressive. A nice afternoon & why don't we see those guys more often? Most likely because they live waay out north west!!

Which made the trek back to Mosman, for dinner with some more friends (See - we have some!!), both long, but relieving, as you could watch the outside temperature dropping by the east-bound kilometer, on OBluV8's fancy dashboard thingy. Still a bit of a muggy & stuffy evening - the temperature, not our friends - they were as entertaining as ever & another couple we'd like to see more often... If we are to make a New Year's resolution, maybe it should be to manage the social roster a bit better... Then again, I don't think we spend enough time at home as it is... & the cats agree!

Monday was a public holiday, for those who don't work in Sales... or those in Sales who don't have Management with ridiculous expectations of both staff & anticipated customer traffic. It seemed that, somewhere near our Showroom, there was a guy in a day-glow vest, holding a stop/slow sign... & he'd obviously fallen asleep with it on 'Stop', as traffic coming our way was non-existent. Until, of course, about 15 minutes before closing, when 4 different people came in... how they expected to solve their individual timber flooring issues in 15 minutes or less, is a mystery I've long pondered. They always end up having to come back another time - either with their partner, some plans, other samples, or just when they have enough time to tell you their saga...

A night in, tonight, catching up on stuff... & nonsense
