waitingman: (Debtor's Prison)
Well, it's official one way or another ~ I'm no longer employed by the Business Telecommunications company that may or may not exist, or may or may not have authorisation to operate in NSW under whatever name it has this week. During my three weeks off, some calls were made & some 'net research turned up some damning opinions about my supposed Boss & his methods. In particular, there was a forum dedicated to his practices & I left a comment there giving vague detail about experiences with him to that date. To which he has responded on the forum... as well as to others who'd commented, in rather blustering fashion, claiming no wrong-doing & we're all unwilling to work & ungrateful for the opportunity he provided

He called me today ~ first time I've heard from him in weeks despite several phone calls & e-mails requesting clarification ~ to continue his blustering & line of argument. I wished him luck & terminated both the phone call & my employment with him. Even if everything is above-board, he's shown that he has no empathy, nor much in the way of managerial skills, so if the NSW venture is sanctioned by Head Office in another State, I can't see him continuing in his current role for long anyway. It's funny... the only other 'gun' salesman I ever worked with had a similar lack of ability when it came to dealing with other staff. I suppose it's a choice:~ be highly successful or be a more rounded person. I've always chosen the latter, but now that I think about it, I've known fantastic musicians who were arrogant about their talents & impossible to be around when they weren't playing their chosen instruments

Is that the key to 'success' in this day & age... single-mindedness to the point of dysfunction?

In other news, the neighbours who officially own Eliot the TS cat (as much as anyone can own a cat), have rescued a baby Grey Butcher bird & have been hand-rearing it for a few weeks. In an attempt to keep it as wild as possible, they let it fly around &, of course, it turned up in our back yard demanding to be fed. And of course... we do. At this rate, we may as well knock down the fence & start a commune. We grow herbs, they keep chickens, we share feeding duties for the menagerie... sounds pretty good actually!!
