Litanie Des Saintes
Jan. 20th, 2011 08:07 pmRecently, by methods unknown, my St Christopher medal parted company from the silver chain on which he's hung around for the last couple of years.
Fair enough... I've spent the last couple of years doing a fairly large amount of travelling around Australia &, having just landed a new job, probably won't be doing much in the way of long journeys any time soon... so maybe he thought it was time to go.
However, my neck feels a little under-adorned with only the treble clef & Telecaster pendants on the other 2 chains I constantly wear, so I've been wondering what to put there as a replacement. This is what I'm considering...

St Jude ~ the patron saint of lost causes.
Those who know me ~ which should be anyone who reads this journal, otherwise why would you bother??!! ~ are entitled to wonder why an agnostic would invest any power & belief in a Catholic saint, given that I was raised as a Protestant & these days don't really 'believe' in anything except a mishmash of Christian ethics mixed with cribbed Buddhist philosophy, some Pagan spiritualism & a cynical, open mind.
Well... just because I like the idea of a saint who oversees those causes, missions, journeys &, by extension, lives, which may not have the best chances of 'success' in this modern western world.
My L-SP thinks the pendant is too 'Jesus-like', but I like its dark look & slight theatricality. Thoughts? Comments??
St Jude playing a Fender Telecaster 'round my neck... I can't think of anything more befitting me...
