Still Life... & Death
Jan. 17th, 2011 11:12 pmMy first post for the year... & all I can find to say about myself is that, looking in the mirror in the last couple of days, I can see the sauna-like conditions of my latest job are having an effect. Briefly:~ I sell barbecues & outdoor furniture, very little of which is lightweight & all of which I have to unload from trucks when it arrives, heap, stack & pile 'til it's sold (mostly by me), then carry it to various cars, vans or trucks to be taken away by mostly satisfied clients. It's the middle of a very humid Summer & I can feel the fleshly baggage of 18 months of relative torpor literally dripping off me. No gym membership required.
Some time soon, I shall doubtless post a more lengthy entry about the conditions, politics & expectations of this new employment, but not until the forecasted dust-storm hits & settles.
Till then... Vale Steven Prestwich the drummer for Cold Chisel who defied the stereotype by writing some of their best songs... & to Harvey James, whom everyone in Australia will remember for being the cute lead guitarist with Sherbet, but I'll remember as the best lead guitarist that Ariel ever had...
Played a bit of guitar myself last Friday for the first time since November last year... I had to wipe mould off it!!! Fingers didn't hurt too much afterwards, though...
