Distraction - A Powerful Force
Nov. 20th, 2007 08:43 pmAt the moment, there are things I want to keep myself focussed on & there are things I try not to think about too much.
However, distraction is a force that can't be aimed too well & if you set it loose on some things, it takes out others at the same time, with the result that, while it's been great to put time, distance, perspective & events in general between myself & some pressing issues from all 3 aspects of my life, I haven't been applying myself to other things as much as I possibly/probably should ~ in all 3 aspects of my life, be they productive, reflective, constructive or remedial.
Tonight's distraction has been watching the accompanying documentary for Peter Gabriel ~ Still Growing Up, shot by his daughter. I'm kind of glad I have (instead of recording a vocal track for a new Hands & Feet song), as it's inspired me on both musical & personal levels &, as such, is a constructive & valuable evening in itself. The man has spent about half a lifetime in therapy & has an effective & useful talent for simple & affective reflection, instruction & insight which could save me thousands of dollars in psychologist/psychiatrist bills...
I hope.
Therefore I am.
Lonely, but unafraid.
