Ups & Downs

Okay... this is getting serious.

I've just returned from dinner with 3 friends of 20+ years standing, celebrating 2 birthdays (mine & one of my friend's) & gifts were, naturally, exchanged...

I was given a bottle of single malt scotch. This makes 3 'party' occasions for my recently departed birthday & at every single one of them, I was given alcohol by everyone. Partly as a result of the first two occasions, I've climbed on board the temperance wagon & have stayed on it for the last 17 days, which makes presents like tonight's a sore temptation (it's very good scotch!).

While it's probably a deserved one, I wonder if this drinking reputation of mine is worth having?! How exactly does one amend a reputation?

In other news, I spent most of today confronting & testing my only phobia ~ heights... from the top of a 20 foot ladder... most of the time one-handed, using power tools. It proved one thing to me beyond all doubt ~ I F@#*ING HATE HEIGHTS!!!!! Being on a ladder that high still scares the living daylights out of me.

I need a drink!!
