"...And I'm Not Frightened Of Dying..."
May. 7th, 2007 03:56 pmThanks to Maelefic, I have a clearer view of my future than any tabloid horoscope could provide...
But... I like broccoli!! (but NOT tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, beetroot, cauliflower, sprouts, cabbage, squashes, green beans, olives, mangoes, most berries... so maybe the quiz does have a point!)
In the last 6 months or so, I have become the master of the 25 minute gig. With performances ranging from guest/cameo appearances, to brief, watershed (read ~ 'shithouse') sets in unlike(able)ly clubs, to short, fast shock'n'awe gigs at a global festival, I am the guitarist equivalent of a sprinter ~ blink & you'll miss me playing. God knows what will happen if I ever do a full-length gig again... I'll probably collapse from exhaustion at the 30 minute mark.
Saturday night's Mamapalooza 100 yard dash was a fine one. A fast, loose'n'loud set of 6 simple & effective pop/rock songs at no more than 2.5 minutes & 3 chords each. I haven't had so much fun playing live since my first party/covers band back in the late 80s. In fact, this was more fun because the band was full of good players & singers (except for the drummer ~ but drummerscan't won't don't count... well, not past 4 anyway) & everyone remembered their cues (except for... well, you know...). My foil excelled himself in both playing & wardrobe, Ron the BassBeast went above & beyond the call of duty in ensuring a good soundmix for all... & people DANCED!!! I haven't had people dancing at one of my gigs since... never you mind. My thanks to SarinG, Dorukai & the usual motley crew for risking their hearing in the name of musical motherhood.
Finally saw 300 last night... on the 5th attempt... at IMAX. I was impressed, yet humbled ~ both by the amount of testosterone, washboard abs & biceps on show (note to self ~ GO TO THE GYM!!) & the SIZE of the IMAX screen!! I may never be able to watch movies on my television again. Speaking of which, SarinG, G'n'W & I saw the Spiderman III trailer there last night, so guess where we'll be going to see that?!
The search for, & construction of, a new hi-fi system for ZenSiren came to a fruitful close today, with the finding of bargains I wish people would offer me when I'm shopping... I've left her to her own, new, devices & am home ~ waiting... waiting for any one of about 4 recruitment agencies to respond to my 8 or so applications (read ~ 'supplications') for jobs that would/could/should return me to my rightful income.
Meagre payday tomorrow. The Fortnight of Abstinence comes to a close, with the bills lining up to be paid already...
You'll Die From an Unlikely Illness (like the plague).
You will unfortunately succumb to a random and unlikely disease. Only to find out after death that eating more broccoli would have cured you.
