...To Speak Of Many Things...
Apr. 12th, 2007 06:30 pmWell, made it to fortnightly payday by the extremely thin skin on the arse of my trousers... & the charity of friends where it counted.
Had an interview with an actual employer last Thursday evening ~ & now waiting for the outcome. Either there'll be a second interview round, or they'll make up their minds after the lastbeggar candidate saw them today. In the interim, there's been no word or feedback from the "Employment Consultant" who lined this one up for me, despite the all-too-usual assurances that she'd call me with feedback & updates from my interview last week.
C'est la guerre... c'est la merde.
A quiet Easter weekend, due mainly to impecunity & the reclusive behaviour that brings out in me. Reynardo stopped by my place ofenslavement employment on Saturday, but I didn't get to talk to her, as I was neck-deep in barbecue jargon with a clueless couple of customers who had me hopping for half an hour. Easter eggs consumed: 2, as well as sundry mini-treats.
Rehearsal with the reduced RockChikz on Tuesday night ~ we've lost one singer & could well be in the process of losing a drummer... how careless of us. The net result was that my ears weren't ringing at the end of the session & thus was able to catch up with SarinG & UnknownB in Little Italy, for their post-sushi dessert frenzy, without requests for sign language or written notes.
Sushi?? In Little Italy??? Go figure...
Speaking of odd cuisine, a bunch of 'bloggers met at the Green Gourmet restaurant in St Leonards last night, for what promised to be an interesting challenge ~ a vegan meal with no alcohol. Never say I can't do it tough!! An array of dishes was boggled at, ordered & consumed, including; Peking (Not) Duck, Braised Soy Steak, Pumpkin Dumplings & (Not) Prawn Gow Ghees. Desserts included a Green Tea ice cream that only 2 of us didn't find unusual. I had no idea there were so many things you could do with tofu to make it look & taste like something else entirely. Cheers to SarinG for finding the place, Dorukai for managing the ordering, Roslyn & UnknownB for stoicism & spirited defence of vegetarianism, Nick for being the table's much-needed 'listener' (every gathering needs an audience!!) & welcome to 'Cello, who, despite never having met any of us before, soon found his niche & worked it all evening.
And now for a steak & red wine...
