waitingman: (Mother's Milk)
Annual NRMA Motorfest duty yesterday ~ the father-figure & I took the Jeepster into town, parked it outside Parliament House & spent the day telling people that it isn't a 4WD, that it isn't for sale & that, no... it isn't a WWII jeep chassis with a new body. And for the last time ~ NO IT ISN'T A @#$*ING 4WD!!!!!!

But at least most people were interested enough to ask... there was one bloke walking around the display with his wife, turning his nose up at the impressive variety of vehicles & declaring for all (well... SarinG & I) to hear, that "...all these cars are a liability, not an asset...", before moodily mooching off to sneer at the next car that obviously took his fancy, otherwise why was he there at all?? People are strange... as far as the human race is concerned, that bloke was indeed a liability & certainly not an asset.

There were one or two crowd-pulling machines on display, including a 1924 Chrysler Crossley that neither father-figure nor I had seen before. The car's body was unpainted, extremely shiny aluminium & the great unwashed swarmed around it like flies all day ~ frustrating our attempts to photograph the car without some beer-bellied bloke in a Brocky t-shirt obscuring 9/10s of it. Apparently, late in the day, father-figure had enough of waiting & loudly declared to some persistent onlookers that they'd looked long enough & could they get out of the way so he could take a photo. Rather shocked, they complied.

Australia Day evening was spent in the local RSL with SarinG, a mutual friend & just about every kind of alcoholic drink the newly renovated club has to offer... hic!... HappyShtrayaDay!!

I owe, I owe, so off to work I went today, with a sense of paranoid foreboding that, despite 7 hours in the company of the hobbit, failed to manifest into anything unpleasant. Yet.

Now, for the rest of my interrupted long weekend.
