Saturday I've Got Friday On My Mind
Jan. 20th, 2007 08:22 pmThank god it's (my) Friday... again.
Still waiting to see how long I'll be selling outdoor furniture, after the interview on Monday for a job selling indoor furniture... anyone sensing a theme here??
Managed to raise my bank account into the black during the week & pay most of the outstanding bills. Don't ask... However, WaitingManor remains a poorhouse & while visitors are welcomed, most travelling engagements are being politely, but firmly, declined due to circumstance, for the foreseeable future... With the exception of the few musical projects already in hand ~ soundtrack work continues apace & I must get in touch with Vee to organise a possible gig next week... or not.
Dinner in Manly with SarinG last night ~ at our second choice location, after being told there was a 30 minute wait for our first... Sod it, we were too hungry to hang around in the overpriced bar & these days there are more restaurants on the tied island than you can throw a fork at, so a suitable substitute is never more than a few feet away.
As was ours. I still managed to get the steak I had my intestines set on & SarinG found a lobster salad that fitted her bill. The waiting staff were a mixed bunch of accents & attitudes ~ from North America to South America & from overbearingly friendly & helpful... to the guy whose attention I tried to catch & just smiled & said "Hi, how ya doin'?" as he disappeared into the kitchen, taking any hope of a tip with him. How dare he ignore a thirsty patron with an empty wineglass & a menu in his hand??!!
However, the food was of better standard & we managed 3 courses each ~ unusual for me... I'm not much of a dessert fan, but the chocolate caramel cheesecake caught my stomach's eye. Staggering away from the table & back to OBluV8 we both swore we'd not eat for 24 hours... Which in my case was pretty much accurate ~ I just had dinner a little while ago.
Nature is rubbing my face in last year's failed resolution to not swelter through another Sydney summer ~ tomorrow is forecast to reach somewhere in the 40s (celsius for my international readers... if there are any). I therefore have not much planned 'til the afternoon, when a trip crosstown to the Outhouse studio is required for more music, muzak & other mutations.
Many things continue to weigh on my mind. Some more pressing & heavy than others, but all contributing their poundage. The bottle remains a temptingly viable solace...
Oh to be a cat.

At least this one's in Melbourne...
