Another night spent both surveying & trying to ignore the detritus of a good weekend.

After the Hyde Park Night Noodle Market on Friday, some of us went to the Rocky Horror Picture Show semi-regular audience participation... thingy, that has run at the George St cinemas for the best part of 20 years ~ if not more. I hadn't been since about 1989 & while a lot remains the same ~ water pistols, rice, mass Time Warp dance-along... the additional dialogue & in-jokes supplied by the regulars have definitely become a lot... bluer to say the least... I've certainly never been asked to impersonate both meerkhat & albatross orgasms before. Don't ask... I won a raincoat for my efforts, which came in handy. And thank god I wore a hat... although I was still picking rice out of my hair on the bus homeward.

With the promise of a dinner party at WaitingManor rashly made on Friday night, Saturday afternoon was spent at various shops & markets ~ purchasing everything from brush drumsticks to obscure varieties of white wine. I also found the time to apply for jobs in two cities, given that I have 10 days of official employment left. They're going to miss me at the ranch... as I left on Friday afternoon, an order came through for about $45,000... all due to my own bluster, blagging & bloodoaths.

The dinner was a mild success. New friends, old movies & a touch too much chilli in the vegetable marinade. Ah well, I enjoyed it... even if I did fall asleep during the Austin Powers movie, not that the excess chilli had anything to do with that... Fire down below!!

A lazy Sunday ~ late arisings, local breakfasts, a sunny but windy day that later became just plain windy... sometime during the Pink Floyd DVD, I think. A refresher course in all my acoustic guitars that reminded me I should play more often, a quick trip to Woolloomooloo, the remains of last night's dinner & an encore screening of Richard Thompson's 1000 Years of Popular Music concert DVD, followed by a couple of Firefly episodes.

Not even the impending threat of Monday can take the shine off a couple of days like that!!
