What did I do on Friday night??
Ah yes, a speech... and a dinner. First time I've ever seen Reynardo lost for words ~ plenty of pre-written cue cards though...
Then up early on Saturday to go into town & thence to Marrickville for yum cha. A personal note ~ Sydney public transport... never again!!! Not only is it sporadic, slow & unwarrantedly expensive, it's full of the worst examples of the great unwashed you could ever have nightmares about encountering with no hope of escape. Trains you wait 30 minutes for & then take 25 minutes to reach your destination? Check. Screaming children on trains? Check. Long waits for buses? Check. Faux teenage 'old school' punks... chattering Paris Hilton clones... rugger buggers... iPod wearers & sharers with crap music at top volume???? Check. All on the same bus (stuck in a traffic jam!!!) & within 3 feet of me on all sides?
Check.
Saturday night at home, then Sunday... from local breakfast to myriad shops, a CD burning session & catching up with an old friend in town from Dublin. A few scotches & off to Balmain & Matraville for a writing/rehearsal/audition session with a prospective band & their new bass player. A session notable for only 2 things ~ bad pizza & a striking, eastern-flavoured new song, written in 20 minutes by... well, modesty forbids... oh hell, no it doesn't... ME!!!
Monday could only pale by comparison & so it did. Brightened only by the purchase of the movie of the musical of the movie of The Producers during a surprisingly expensive grocery shopping spree this evening.
And yet it seems like the walls are closing in at the moment...
