Duck Off!!
Mar. 16th, 2006 10:54 amIs it just me, or does anyone else think that Michael Leunig is a pretentious prat who's absolutely full of SHIT!!??
( Consider The Evidence... )
When I first encountered his cartoons in the 1970s, they were engagingly weird, playful & funny. As he's grown older & started to believe his own press, he's been pushing his own pithy, Prozac-inspired, post tree-hugging hippy crap onto us in ever increasingly 'poignant' (read: soppy) cartoons. As his cartoons became so wordy that they escaped the confines of the frame, he started writing 'essays' & opinion pieces to share his moaning, moody & startlingly conservative views with us. Whatever happened to the revolution, Michael??!! I'm bitterly disappointed in my prospective hometown, for giving his irrelevant ramblings an international platform & TV coverage. It'll only encourage the bugger!
I feel the overwhelming urge to read some of the nastier passages from American Psycho... as an antidote... & possibly as inspiration for when I see the twat in person...
