I don't recommend seeing Derailed - the new Jennifer Aniston flick.

Ordinarily, that wouldn't need to be said, but sometimes circumstances conspire to have you & your best friend standing outside a cinema, determined to see a movie & before you know it, you're an hour into a formulaic 'thriller', with plot devices so contrived your 3 year-old honorary nephew could see through them, wishing you'd made out a slightly stronger case for either Date Movie or Casanova... neither of which, in their respective ways, pretend to be anything other than big dumb fun.

However, it's not the worst way to spend 90 minutes &, to be fair, it did have its moments & the 2 leads (J.A. & Clive Owen) were relatively pleasing to our respective eyes (although I always thought Courtney Cox was the best looking Friend... but what would I know... I never watched it), just that I would have preferred Alison Hannigan in Date Movie or, at a pinch, Sienna Miller (generically pretty, but there's a spark there, somewhere) in Casanova... However, we had a good time exchanging disbelieving glances at every unlikely plot 'twist' & contrivance.

OBluV8 & I spent Saturday speeding & sightseeing along the south coast with a septuagenarian swinger & a soundtrack by Steely Dan & 6 other CDs that I would list, but they're not alliterative...

Got back to town in the evening & resisted the temptation of dinner with Rey, Art & friends, as I wasn't at my social best by that time. Given the choice, I would have preferred to spend the day alone, but again, it certainly wasn't the worst way to spend the day... it definitely had more good moments than Derailed did.

Sunday was sleep-in day & I fuzzily declined the early (for me) call to rehearse at my foil's place for the upcoming wedding. Had breakfast in my local courtyard cafe, played a little guitar, played a little Freecell, played a lot more guitar, played some CDs, a little more Freecell, more CDs & guitar, then chauffeured & hosted a family dinner at a local restaurant before heading home in a belated, but much needed, thunderstorm. However, it's 11.30pm now & it's still too humid to sleep, so my number 1 & 2 fans are doing their best to make me comfortable.

Did somebody say Monday..?
