Life Speeds Up
Dec. 11th, 2005 09:15 pmJust reading back over the last couple of entries & now I can't get 'Maggie's Farm' out of my head. Not a song I want to be thinking about during the weekend - but it's close enough to Monday, I suppose...
"...I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother no more...
He hands you a nickel, he hands you a dime.
He asks you with a grin if you're having a good time.
He says sing while you slave & I just get bored.
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more"
Or words to that effect. I'm quoting from memory until I give in & put the album on...
In the same vein, one of the marketing geniuses on the ranch has been perusing episodes of The Office looking for scenes that illustrate bad work meetings - the better to promote our 'technology integration solution'. I resisted the temptation to suggest he simply bring a video camera to any of our sales meetings on a Tuesday afternoon/evening, as it would be quicker, far more illustrative, just not as funny - then exited... stage left... running even... as I've never been able to enjoy The Office, it strikes too close to home for comfort.
This past weekend has put several of my new resolves, approaches & practices to the test & they've held up admirably. Hibernation may soon be over.
Interviews tomorrow & Tuesday, an after dinner speech to write before Friday & a new singer/songwriter to work with. What more could one ask???
Don't ask.
