Watching The Detectives
Jul. 8th, 2005 01:57 pmMy day has been... interesting.
I was at home for a couple of hours last night. When I got there, my mother came down with a business card from Manly Police. Apparently they’d been around earlier in the day, looking for me because I’d been seen talking on a mobile phone whilst in the car & a Senior Constable Crain wants me to give her a call about it... Now, as I understand it, if they’re going to fine you for being on a mobile in a car, they have to get you on the spot, like speeding, or being in a Transit Lane – not turn up at your home later... & certainly not after you have to call them to find out what it is they might want to talk to you about...???
So, I rang the station this morning. only to be told that Const. Crain won’t be on duty ‘til 9pm tonight. I’m trying to decide whether to call her this evening – interrupting a potentially noisy band practice to do so – or not call & see what happens then... after all, I’ve already called once! My curiosity & sense of civic duty mean that I’ll probably end up calling again. Mainly because of the curiosity... since when do the police make house-calls to hand-deliver a traffic fine?? What else could they be after??
I’m quite boringly law-abiding... except for occasionally answering mobile phone calls in the car, apparently.
Here at work, I have a client I’d really like to swear at... a lot!!! One of those people who want me to do all their thinking for them & get upset when I want information from them to help me get their proposal together in a ridiculously short amount of time, because they’ve left it to the last minute to get quotes & now that’s MY problem, not theirs...
You know that type.
I think I can feel an afternoon appointment on the Northern Beaches coming on... I’m sure I can think of a client over there.
So, not much happening on the physical activity side, but plenty of hoops for my brain to jump through... I just want to go to a nice relaxing band practice, play lots of guitar & enjoy a peaceful weekend. Too much to ask??
