Home Away From Home
Jun. 16th, 2005 03:14 pmThought this might become a habit...
Given that I haven't been home in the last few days for any length of time, other than to grab the odd change of clothes for work & play... & that work isn't the busiest place in the world right now, furtive business hour updates are a temptation hard to resist.
So, backtracking... Saw Hitch-hikers Guide, finally, on Tuesday night. A lot better than I expected, despite some misgivings over casting (liked Trillian, Slartibartfast, loved Marvin, didn't like Zaphod or Arthur, indifferent about Ford). Liked the script - even with the edited jokes - & the new bits on Vogsphere... LOVED the spadey things that hit everyone in the face when they mentioned thinking or ideas... I know executive managers who act like that. Best lines, of course, went to Marvin - personal favourite "Now I've got a headache!" Liked the book graphics, spotted the original TV Marvin, the Douglas Adams head planet, enjoyed the version of the original theme. Total score - 7/10
Watched the 2nd State of Origin football game in a pub in Gladesville last night... I know, I know... but the company on offer was impossible to resist... unitl another erstwhile workmate showed up with partner & 3 underage kids in tow. I don't dislike children anywhere near as much as I used to, but a couple of that lot last night would make even Michael Jackson run away screaming.
Dinner with Lederhosen & Reynardo tonight, at an Italian restaurant they recommend highly. We shall see...
All this & Wafflers tomorrow night. I'll sleep when I'm dead.
