Schlock Of The New
May. 17th, 2005 10:25 pmSo, day 2 of the rest of my life.
Is it okay to be blase about a new job after only 2 days?? Is it a sign of the casting off of youthful great expectations & a more mature 'wait & see' attitude, or is it the result of years of cynicism, personality clashes, rip-offs & disappointments?
I prefer to think the former, but the absence of any enthusiasm on my part is a new experience for me - I'm usually quite tally-ho, cavalier about joining a new workforce...
Not this time, it seems.
I miss some of the people I knew at the old job (one or two in particular). I miss the familiarity... This must also be a sign of the insecurity that comes with age. How long before I start decrying the music kids listen to as 'just noise' & reminisce about petrol prices below 50c a litre & how much better the chocolate bars were in my day?
Surely this will all pass...?
