Tender Of Mouth... Sore Of Wallet
Mar. 8th, 2005 07:14 pmRule of Life #7 - a new entry in the top 10 & rising...
Never go to the dentist unless a) there is something actually wrong with your teeth, or b) you've won the lottery.
I was mugged in a mechanically reclining chair this afternoon. This guy in a mask & gloves holding a motorised sharp implement did half a job on my mouth & a complete job on my spendings account.
He wants me to go back next week & let him do more to me for even more money. All I wanted was my teeth cleaned. Okay, I knew it would cost about $150 & you can't claim it on Medicare, but I DID expect to get both the top & bottom rows done for the price.
An hour after I walked in early for my appointment (including 30 mins waiting time), I emerged having only had the bottom ones done, armed with a referral to an x-ray place & the knowledge that I'd have to come back to get the top ones done & probably a wisdom tooth removed.
Projected cost for 2 visits, not including work time lost - $580 At what price vanity..?
Still, on the up side - no gum problems, no holes & the bottom choppers DO feel cleaner. Not too bad for the first dental visit since the late 80s...
I REALLY hope I get paid that commission this week!! Bills to pay, muggers with dental degrees to accommodate...
