I find myself curious about astrology tonight.
Quite apart from it's a clear night in Sydney, stars are actually visible & I've spent the last couple of hours with my eyes heavenwards... I wonder about the whole 'instinct/influence' nature of astrology. How much of one's behavioural pattern is the influence of celestial body positions or the power of suggestion concerning your personality type? E.g. - If you are told from an impressionable age that Tauruses are headstrong people who like to get their own way... or whatever (apologies to 'Taureans' if I've got it wrong... I'm only a humble 'Gemini'), do you then either recognise that quality in yourself, embrace & use it, or start to develop yourself along those lines because you feel that's what is expected of you - with the added bonus of understanding that you've been given a 'get out of jail free' card by society to act as they see fit for your 'type'?
What if you were born in the latter half of April, but are quite passive by nature? What if you're a Buddhist?? Is there such a thing as a Capricorn Buddhist? What about an Inuit Saggitarius? A Zulu Leo?? A Kalahari Bushman Aquarius??? Surely if the effects of the stars are felt by people all over the world, then a small thing like religious or philosophical belief pales in comparison to the power of the cosmos... As someone who, upon revealing my 'star sign', has been classified as 'Oh, oh... trouble", I resent the drawing up of artificial battle lines before I've even voiced an opinion. I never have this problem with Muslims... or Jews for that matter...
The age old (well, 20th century) question of nature vs nurture. Please explain...
