Petrol Sniffing
Oct. 11th, 2004 07:01 pmI am single-handedly keeping Australia's petrol industry alive.
I live on Sydney's Northern Beaches, approximately 45 mins - 1 hours drive from where my office is based. As a sales representative, a fair portion of my day is spent on the road toing & froing from various clients & back to the office. All of which is normal &, while it sometimes means a lot of driving in one day, is not usually cause for comment...
Today, however, I rose at a rather uncivilised hour to go to work - school holidays are over & the traffic was bound to be worse - sure enough, it was & 55 minutes later I arrived at work... met the installations manager in the entrance & was told that he needed me to come with him out to a job I arranged for a large health products supplier... whose head office is in the suburb I live in... in fact 3 minutes from my front door.
Pause for deep, slow, calming breaths.
I then introduced him to a wonderful invention from the late 19th century, which has become ubiquitous, highly developed & portable in this modern age... the telephone. A marvellous time (& petrol) saving device, when used correctly & thoughtfully.
And it's only Monday...
