waitingman: (fender heads)
Thank god that week's over

It was with a sense of accomplishment that I hit the 'send' button on my work e-mail & fired off the quotation that's been giving me grief for about a week & a bit, on Friday afternoon. It had been the cause of many an early morning's soul searching for reasons to get up & go to work & many a late evening's searching of mycareer.com...

Now - a weekend of rehearsal, practice & learning new songs & remembering others. Daylan are breaking in a guest percussionist this afternoon (possibly literally), for our gig at the Unity Hall Hotel in Balmain on Wednesday night. We can't use our meticulously crafted backing tracks... so we're going to cheat & use a drummer who has an electronic box with all sorts of sounds in it. All we have to do is get him to hit the right ones at the right time... which, as any player knows, is never easy - especially with hard rock drummers...

Then to an evening with my most recent former rock band, from a couple of years ago. They're doing a 4 or 5 song 'showcase' gig at the Friend In Hand in Glebe on Thursday night & need a 2nd guitarist. Relations have been friendly & cordial since I left them back then, so... could be fun...

And then... a late evening with Liz... lord knows where we'll end up. So many bands playing, so little time.

A prediction - Sunday will be a brain-dead day. I'll be doing my best...
