So, off to Rose Bay after work & thence to the Hopetoun for dinner & a show.

A word of advice for the unwary traveller... don't eat at Tongs Kitchen, upstairs in the Hopetoun. He may advertise himself on his menus as 'the fresh food cooking people', but the dishes are stodgy, oily & a horrible collision of Asian styles corrupted by too many years spent making bacon'n'egg rolls for the proles. So, not a good meal then. Rather spoilt the fact that Liz & I arrived at the pub early enough to catch T, D & C doing their soundcheck to a 1/4 full room. Sounded good even then. High point of the meal - seeing Ian Rilen & Tex sharing beers, reminiscences & spring rolls at another table. If beer coasters could talk... they'd probably sound a lot like those 2.

Back downstairs, the place was filling up. T, D & C were slow country/blues/folk great. During the 2nd set, a couple of familiar faces drifted in... including Reynardo, who surprised me from behind.

The only trouble with the Hopetoun is that it closes at midnight & throws you out when you're still thirsty & looking for the next place to go. Unfortunately the next place to go is Taylor Square - a place re-designed for walking to. No good when you have a car, it's Friday night, the nightclubs are packed & so are the streets. No parking available for us, so I regretfully had to leave Reynardo to fend for herself in the Judgment Bar. Sorry Ma'am.

Home by 3am, now for ablutions, clothing maintenance & a rehearsal for tonight at Willoughby. Where IS the Legion Club anyway...?
