waitingmanSo, at 3.30pm this afternoon, the head of accounts comes over to me & says "Sorry about the late notice, but would you be free for the Christmas party this Friday night? We've only just started thinking about it..."
I don't mind working for a company that flies by the seat of it's pants finiancially... well... I do, actually... but, honestly - 2 days notice for a Christmas party??!! Even if it will wind up only being a dinner & modest bar tab at the pub across the road. Fortunately, I have another commitment on Friday night... Reynardo has successfully reeled me into the Wafflers Club & I have to introduce myself wittily & engagingly to about 50 people in a 2 minute speech... with a full 10 minute speech on a topic yet-to-be announced in February. 10 minutes?! I'm having enough trouble being interesting in 2 at the moment!! As a salesman, this sort of thing should be easy... perhaps I should stop thinking about it & just get up & go for it on Friday night with the first thing that leaps into the void of my head... What could be easier than selling oneself?
