Well, now I know what my guitar sounds like in 5.1 surround sound, accompanied by a ghost story on the big screen...

The premiere of 'The Intruder' was held tonight at the somethingorother cinemas on Norton St in Leichhardt. And it was great!! Having only seen the film in various stages of production - mostly with ragged sound & counter numbers on it, on small TV screens - to see the finished, edited, mastered, mixed, buffed & polished version on a full-sized movie screen in 'real' viewing conditions was a strangely satisfying experience. To hear one's own music in a cinema, accompanying a film, was, at first, a little unnerving & squirm inducing - then, once Bernard & I were over the shock, quite rewarding, then totally natural. The music was mixed into the overall sound really well & although there are things we'd do differently, it was gratifying to hear it turn out as well as it did. Not bad for a first attempt at soundtracking if we do say so ourselves... And it's a good film too... look out for it at a short film festival near you in the coming months... I'll be keeping you posted anyway - vested interest & all that...

Drinks, canapes & conversational criticism followed, then desserts & deconstruction at a nearby cafe afterwards. All in all, a good night. I've had 4 espressos today, but I had a bout of insomnia last night & have been up since 5.30 this morning, so I think the balance sheet is even enough to expect sleep to arrive at a decent hour this evening/morning.

Otherwise, I suppose, more books to read & another 45 minute 'power' walk at dawn should see me in top shape for the late-starting Joshua gig tomorrow night... Forget the 40 hour week, I need the 30 hour day!!
