waitingmanOne can only recognise that music is a fluid art form...
Today, I bought 3 recently released albums. Two from new artists I've heard bits'n'pieces from over the last few weeks via JJJ & i-Tunes (Snow Patrol & Amy Winehouse (with a name like that ~ how could I resist??!!)) & one from an established artist with a pretty good pedigree (Ry Cooder).
Guess which one was a disappointment??
Yep... ol' Ry let the team down with a musically cliched & mostly uninteresting "concept" album about the demolition & subsequent development of Latin-American suburbs in L.A. in the 50s & 60s. Like a Wagner symphony ~ it had great moments... lousy half-hours. 'Chicken Skin Music' it ain't!!
Dammit... I had the choice between his album & the latest from the White Stripes for the same price... which I'd heard some good tracks from & hadn't bought yet.
Ah well... as Suzanne Vega once sang ~ "When heroes go down, they go down fast. so don't expect anyone to equivocate the past."
But then, she hasn't had a 'hit' since the early 90s... What would she know??!!
... Says the guy with one 'hit' single to his name from 13 years ago...
