Have Guitars, Will Unravel

A very guitar-centric day, after a leisurely local breakfast. Over at The Outhouse studio today, it was amateur hour. We had to re-record a ragged drumroll, so an extremely dodgy drumkit was begged/borrowed/stolen from I-don't-want-to-know-where & after some running repairs, it was time for me to prove I'll never be a drummer by bashing my arrhythmical way around the snare, toms,kick thud drum & crash clank cymbal. Then followed 5 takes of deliberately bad (honestly!!) lead guitar for the closing credits (if they list the musicians, I'll never work in this town again!!), each slightly better & worse than the last, which we edited down to one Frankenstein's Monster of a solo.
Oh the shame of it all...
Thusly inspired, we recorded the sound of banging on the studio door & yells of"Shut up in there!!!" & "Will you turn that thing down!!!", just to enhance the atmosphere of the piece. Well pleased with our efforts, I headed back to WaitingManor for a quick change of guitars, before driving to Redfern for a meeting with ZenSiren, a former singer & erstwhile fling of mine. Acoustic pop songs were the order of the evening & we ran through a bunch of my unused pieces, then picked a couple of covers to play around with. Accompanied by Eugene, her more-than-just-a-guitarist, things went well enough to lose track of time for a while.
What will come of it all, remains to be seen... & preferably heard.
All that playing leaves the right-hand fingertips rather tender. The left hand is bearing up rather well after a few games of 10 pin bowling with UnknownB & SarinG last night... the first time I've bowled since about 1996. I'd forgotten a) how much fun it can be & b) how much your hand hurts after a couple of games. However, I could still hold a guitar pick in it today, so it can't have been too bad... unlike the soloing...
