Years ago, Long-Suffering Partner found & bought me an 'electric' kazoo - basically a plastic kazoo with a piezo microphone attached & an instrument cable running from it you can plug into an amplifier, or effects unit, or direct to a recording device. It lives in the case with my guitar pedalboard, but I've never really found a serious use for it - great for a laugh, but not something you'd necessarily play, well, seriously... until last night. Having intentionally not taken any instruments to what was mostly going to be a mixing session, we decided the track was a little too sparse & needed some extra sounds. Out with the electric kazoo!!

It's been effected to hell & back, of course, via my pedalboard, so you wouldn't really know it's me looking faintly ridiculous tootling away... Now you do

Nicely done! The opening beat is simple yet distinctive; seems like if you heard this a couple times on radio you'd know it from the first bar after that.

So a newbie question here; the occasional "disembodied" vocals that sound like someone speaking through a megaphone -- is that how those are recorded?

The "find your teacher" & "yeah that's pretty much what he does" samples were captured by our phones while we were out & about. There's also a steam engine recorded at the Powerhouse Museum & various whistling sounds I made in a big car park - both recorded on phone. They all have some form of delay, or reverb on them...

Everything else was played by us - bass, drums, some keyboard bits. No guitars!!?

The "find your teacher" voice was coming from a local school sports day... part of some kind of P.A. announcement that the rest of the suburb could also hear. So yes - you could say that it was recorded with a loudspeaker!
