Desperate Times

I'm currently looking at probably a few hundred job ads per day, which arrive via 2 e-mail accounts from keyword-based alerts from 3 different job sites. I'm thinking I should just set up a small business for myself, offering advice on how to compose a job advertisement

Free lesson #1 - Truth in Advertising

Unless you're a well-known rock band advertising for a new member, there is no need to use the word "rockstar" in your ad...

Loan Processing Rockstar
Mortgage Providers - Sydney NSW

Yep... the groupies will be falling over themselves to get to you & your competitive interest rate

The only thing sadder than this ad, is the thought that anybody out there thinks of themselves as a rockstar, because they can play the hell out of their calculator

While we're on that subject, there is no workplace in the world that can accurately be described as "funky" &/or "hip"... except for maybe the recording studio at Muscle Shoals If you're not spending your days recording soul music classics, then you just work in an office with the muzak playing way too loud

And another tip... PLEASE put the offered salary range in your advertisement. It will save so much time - both yours & mine, if I can decide whether what's on offer is commensurate with my skills & expectations, before I send an application, wait 2 weeks for a reply, do a phone interview with a recruiter, then go across town for an interview at the company, only to find out you're offering bugger-all...
